“I don’t want to tell her how I built my website.”
“If I give her the blueprint to starting her own cosmetics line she may steal my clientele.”
“We can’t both be speakers and speak at the same places.”
“I’m not going to share where I purchased my makeup or the colors I use to beat faces because I don’t want that other MUA to steal my techniques.”
“I can’t share how I gained so many Youtube subscribers in a short period of time, she might take my whole audience.”
“I shouldn’t share with her how I got my radio interview because she might get landed on the same show.”
“She took over my spotlight because I gave her my platform, now I have to figure out how to be better than her.”
These are all phrases that I have heard floating around from some women. It’s quite sad that some women believe they can’t share their path to success and what worked for them with the next women to help aid in their success journey.
In all honesty, one of the most substantial misconceptions in business that I had to overcome is that people doing the same work as me are automatically competition. Once I got rid of this mindset that I had adopted from society I have grown tremendously and I am able to help other Queens through their journey, as well as, young women begin theirs.
God created your light to shine in your own special way and no other woman can dim it or shine the same way. We were all created and designed uniquely with a purpose and on purpose! That means that no one can steal what God has intended for you to do or accomplish. So, you won’t be any less successful if you help another woman reach the calling that God has over her life. That’s what He wants us to do; help those in need.
God shares with us in Galatians 6:4: Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” A great woman, Helen Keller once said these words that are true for many women who have worked together to accomplish greater success than they would have achieved on their own. I promise you, Queen, that women come together we are so much more powerful than ever before. We are the true example for the Queens coming behind us.
If finding other women as competition and you’re not open to sharing some of your success tips with others is something you struggle with; here’s my challenge to you: I would like for you to step outside of your comfort zone. Approach someone on social media or in person that you may see as competition and send them a message or email and schedule a time for coffee or a phone call so that you cane each connects, add value, and get to know each other.
So many meaningful relationships and world impact can happen when empowering women link up!
Girl, she didn’t steal your shine…she’s helping you shine brighter!
